We're back with the college football edition of CLE’s Totals. Last week we got a bit of a gut punch as North Carolina had four trips inside the 25 without points, two missed extra points, and ended the game kneeling inside the Wake Forest ten yard line to deny us our over team total of 37.5 as they ended with 36 points. That brings our record to 3-2 on these college football article plays. This week we are heading out west for a PAC 12 showdown with rivals UCLA and USC.
USC comes into this one 9-1 on the season, currently in first place in the PAC 12 with a 7-1 record. They are currently ranked 7th in the latest CFB Playoff rankings following their 55-17 win over Colorado last Friday. Their cross-town rival UCLA comes into this one 8-2 on the season with a 5-2 PAC 12 record. They were ranked 16th in this past week's CFB Playoff rankings, down four spots after a shocking 34-28 loss to Arizona Saturday night.
We should see some fireworks Saturday night in this one, as both teams bring in two of the best offenses and quarterbacks in the country. USC comes into this one with the 3rd ranked points scoring offense in the nation with 42.3 points per game. The Trojans also have the 7th ranked Yards per game offense in the nation averaging 499.4 on the year. In their last 6 game USC has averaged over 42 points a game. Caleb Williams has been phenomenal for them with over 3000 yards passing, 32 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. UCLA has been great this year too, ranking 5th in the country in yards per game averaging 504.1 yards. They rank 11th in scoring offense averaging 39.4 points in their 10 games. They also have the 8th ranked rushing offense in the nation averaging 240.1 rushing yards per game. Dorian Thompson-Robinson has been very good for them with almost 2500 yards passing with 20 touchdowns and only four interceptions.
Yes, I know this total is very high, but I fully anticipate both offenses to go off here. Keep in mind the last three meetings with these teams are averaging 87.6 points, so this series has seen points and now throw in offense minded Lincoln Riley, yeah, I fully see this one going over.
The Play: UCLA v USC o76.5 (-110)
