Week 8 lookahead lines are officially here, so let’s go ahead and attack these soft numbers before the market moves them!
Vikings @ Packers (-7 on both FanDuel and BetOnline)
The Green Bay Packers play the Houston Texans in Week 7, and that game has the potential of a Packers dominant win (I like Packers -3.5). The Vikings are on a bye week in Week 7, so sure, they have more time to prep here, but you can have all the time in the world to prep with a crappy team and have no results to show for it. This Vikings team isn’t very good, with holes all over the defense, and could this team in fact be done for the year? They traded away a key defender in Yannick Ngakoue for a loss after getting him in the summer. I like the Packers -7 in this spot and really like them -6.5 if you can get it.
Steelers @ Ravens (-5.5 -105 FanDuel, -110 BetOnline)
I like the Pittsburgh Steelers +5.5 here. The Steelers play a tough Tennessee Titans team this week while the Baltimore Ravens get a bye. This Steelers team is the real deal, and if they win in Week 7, on the road no less, then the public will like the Steelers accordingly. Also, who exactly are the Ravens? Baltimore is a 5-1 team that has beaten a lot of bad teams, that Philadelphia Eagles score is very misleading from Week 6. This Ravens offense hasn’t look that good this year compared to last year, and this rivalry is mostly a coin flip series in most situations. The fact that we are getting -5.5 points with Steelers is fantastic. My guess is that this line goes closer to -3 come kickoff in a pivotal AFC North rivalry showdown.
Jets @ Chiefs (-20.5 -106 FanDuel, -21 -115 BetOnline)
Welcome to another weekly edition of "Do we have enough points to take the New York Jets yet?" I would be surprised if large sharp action takes the Kansas City Chiefs here. This is a massive backdoor opportunity here, and the Chiefs will need 40+ to cover. Sure, Kansas City can score, but do they want to? If the Jets get Darnold for this game with a semi-good injury report heading into Week 8, then we look to Jets. Play the Adam Gase-led Jets, along with Woody Allen and Darnold, at your own risk but the number is there.
