WEEK 17 BETTING REVIEW
WEEK 17 BEST BETS: 6-3 (+2.32 units)
SEASON LONG BEST BETS: 78-70 (+9.17 units)
NYG -3 (WIN)
The Giants are better coached and were extremely motivated to win Sunday’s game. The Colts are also one of the few teams that have less talent than the Giants. All of which is what put me on the Giants only laying a field goal. They did not disappoint winning by 4 touchdowns and out-yarding the Colts by 2 yards per play. This wasn’t a game in the scoreboard, box score, or the field. Easy winner.
JAX -3 (WIN)
This was another game with a motivated ball club against a team that had nothing to play for. If anything, the Texans are motivated to lose to secure the first overall pick in the upcoming draft. The Jags also won by 4 touchdowns and outyarded the Texans by 1.5 per play. Even losing the turnover battle did little to suppress the onslaught.
NYJ ML (LOSS)
After winning the previous 2 plays by 51 points ATS, we got absolutely dominated in this one. The Jets simply didn’t show up to play. I thought Mike White would be a difference maker. He certainly wasn’t one. The Jets were never in this one as Seattle took their next step towards the playoffs.
DAL -2.5 / CAR +10 (WIN)
Dallas won this going away on Thursday, but we had to wait until Sunday to cash the teaser. A market influencer gave out TB -3, which moved the number to -3.5. After the Panthers secured a 14-0 lead, the Bucs took over. Our teaser leg was never in danger of losing, but a failed PAT kick allowed us to cover and avoid the push.
DAL / TEN U42.5 (WIN)
With TEN sitting Tannehill and Henry, I thought the Titans would be hardpressed to score. They were able to manufacture 13 points in a losing effort, but held the Cowboys to just 27 which gave us another winner on the weekend.
MIN +3 (LOSS)
We had a couple of dominant wins this week, but the Jets and the Vikings were two horrendous plays. After blocking the Packers opening drive punt and settling for a field goal, the Packers scored 41 unanswered points. The Vikings are a terrible team with a good record. I’m still not entirely sold on the Packers however.
PHI -5.5 (LOSS)
PHI / NO O41 (LOSS)
Neither play was even close to covering. I thought there was an overreaction to Minshew starting over Hurts. I clearly was wrong. We had CLV on the total, but that was insignificant. I’m not convinced the Eagles would be able to simply flip the switch in Week 18 to secure the number 1 seed. However, they are playing an indifferent Giants team who may elect to rest their starters. If so, this won’t be a game I’m likely to attack.
CIN +7.5 / LAC -2.5 (PENDING)
The Chargers weren’t a game we needed to tease, which actually may end up costing us some money. They won going away, winning by 3 touchdowns over the hapless Rams. The Bengals game is certainly one that we will be talking about for quite a while. Obviously, all thoughts and prayers are with Hamlin and his family, our teaser be damned.
