Hunting The MLB: Daily Best Bet for Tuesday, July 18

MLB betting analyst Dalton Brown breaks down his favorite bets for today's card.

· Dalton Brown,MLB

The Dodgers got it done for yesterday's article, cashing both their team total over 4.5 and winning outright at Baltimore. MLB handicapper Dalton Brown looks to build positive momentum with another pick on Tuesday night's baseball slate.

9:38 p.m. ET: New York Yankees at Anaheim Angels: Yankees moneyline (-104) at BetRivers

The New York Yankees and Anaheim Angels will play their second of three games Tuesday night from Angel Stadium, and I'm backing New York to even the series after a blown lead led to a loss Monday.

The Yankees are turning to mercurial righty Domingo German, a pitcher who has both thrown a perfect game and given up 10 earned runs in a outing this season. German has been solid of late, though, allowing just three earned runs over 19.1 innings pitched over his last three starts. Anaheim is tough on right-handed pitching, but I believe we are getting the superior starting pitcher and bullpen in this one.

Lefty Patrick Sandoval will pitch for the Angels, a southpaw the Yankees touched up for five runs in April in the Bronx. Sandoval has been a bit of a mess recently, following up a 7.11-ERA June with four walks in his only July start. He hasn't pitched in 13 days, and will battle a Yankees offense Tuesday that ranks fourth in baseball with a 126 wRC+ vs. lefties since June 15 despite being without Aaron Judge.

When the starters, exit, New York's advantage becomes more clear. Since June 15, Anaheim's bullpen ranks dead last in baseball with an xFIP of 5.40.

My handicap of this game makes the Yankees a modest favorite, so I'm happy to bet them at near a coin flip.
